Through our on-going successful relationship with MDL Marinas, we were pleased to be awarded the first phase to replace the quay wall at Sparkes Marina on Hayling Island.
The existing sea wall was in a poor condition, with the result that traditional piling techniques were inappropriate as the loads on the quay side were deemed likely to cause collapse of the sea wall.
Our solution was to use of silent piling techniques which would cause minimal disturbance and also mean that no additional loads were imposed on the quayside.
Summary of the Scope:
- Construction of a new sheet piled wall using silent pile techniques
- Form a new reinforced concrete capping beam
- Waler beams, anchors and stainless steel tie rods to stabilise and secure the sheet wall and prevent movement
- Design and install corrosion protection
- Reinstate and extend the boat storage area
The project location was within both RAMSAR & SSSI designated areas, with all the associated requirements for environmental protections through collaboration with all relevant statutory licencing bodies.
